What is PET plastic bottle

Jan 28,2023 / Industry News / Author: Administrator

PET is the abbreviation of polyethylene terephthalate, which is used to manufacture 70% of soft drink bottles produced in the world. This makes it the most popular choice in the world, making it far ahead of its competitors in aluminum and glass.

Polyethylene terephthalate is a natural transparent thermoplastic, which has wide applicability in the bottling and packaging industry. When combined with other materials, it can also be used as engineering plastics. Because of its applicability in the textile industry, polyester makes people have a better understanding of its name.

Where does polyethylene terephthalate come from?
PET was developed by DuPont chemists more than 70 years ago. They set out to find polymer materials that can be used in the textile industry, and produced PET in the synthesis process of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. They noticed that it is a very solid material without any additives, especially when they consider its lightweight.

This strength means that fewer materials are needed in some applications, which explains why plastic bottles are made of relatively thin materials. The research also shows that PET is highly sustainable because it can be recycled repeatedly.

Why is polyethylene terephthalate so useful?
Due to the combination of many factors, PET is a useful material. PET is very useful for bottling industry because it can provide certain chemical resistance for manufacturers. It will not react with food or water, so it is very suitable for consumer packaging.
It is almost completely shatterproof and safer to use than glass substitutes. PET is also much lighter than glass, making it easier to transport finished products.

You must also consider the following facts: polyethylene terephthalate is a widely available substance, and the price is relatively affordable. After consumers use it, they can recycle it. This can be done in one of the following two ways, plastic will use one of the following two ways:
a) After a series of washing processes or
b) Break it down into a group of raw materials.
